  1. I have used 5w-30 for my 08 TJ and I’m thinking of what oil to use that I could leave in for a whole year and it is less driven. I wanting to have better protection and that would allow me to get by with changing the oil once a year. I know if I use conventional oil, I have to change it every 6 months even I don’t put in some miles.

    • You can go with a fully synthetic 5w-30 and the change interval will be longer. I would suggest checking the oil level every now and then and change the oil filter every six months even if you did not change the oil. That’s just my own opinion because that’s what I do to my truck. I’ve had it for 5 years now and still running smooth as ever.

  2. I decided to stick with conventional oil and replace it every 6 months even if I don’t hit 5,000 miles. I thought that if I switch to a more expensive type of oil, it would only mean nothing to the engine since I seldom use it because of this pandemic. I will probably try to upgrade the type of oil I will use once the pandemic is over because I may be able to use my truck more often.
